My beloved bride is in her third decade of teaching, and she is the epitome of her education profession.
She embraces what Dr. Jim Schettler, a West Coast Baptist College professor, said about what makes for a great teacher:
1. A Great Teacher Has a Passion for What is Taught. Genuine interest, understanding, and skill in a subject is contagious. You will never have a great teacher who does not have passion.
2. A Great Teacher Has Faith in Those that are Taught. Your motivation, your love, what you think can happen in person, or what you believe about that person will greatly influence their life.
3. A Great Teacher Teaches by Example.
Ask yourself - Is this not the role of a senior leader? Do you have a passion for the profession of arms? Do you believe in those who surround you (and will someday replace you!)? Do you model for others what they must learn in order to succeed in the fight?
"Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered." - Proverbs 11:25
Be encouraged: No one cares what you know, until they know how much you care.
Each of us has the chance as leaders to influence and teach, so make sure you show great heart, great faith, and a great example for your teammates to follow.
LEADER PRAYER: Lord, your Son Jesus was the great teacher. May we carry influence as He did in the way we share your love and the hope of the Gospel. Amen.
Blessings on your week --
