"I've often said that in my view racism is the biggest social problem we face in the world today, and I believe it still is. Not only do we have continuing problems with racism in our own country, but racism is a worldwide problem that leads to countless wars and conflicts. It also is at the root of much of the world's injustice and poverty. " - Billy Graham

"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen." - 1 John 4:20

The world continues to mourn the loss of Billy Graham, a faithful servant of God who was one of only two non-government employees or elected officials to lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda. The other was Rosa Parks.

Last week the Anti-Defamation League reported that 2017 saw a 57% increase in anti-semitic incidents in the US.

The recent history of riots and civil unrest in Ferguson, Baltimore, New York, and Minneapolis over the shooting of unarmed black men has fueled suspicion and again uncovered the chasm of racism in our country.

Billy Graham said that racism is the biggest social problem we face in the world. Holy scripture says that if we can't love our brother and sister, whom we have seen, we can't love God, whom we haven’t seen.

So find someone this week to whom you can extend love, kindness, compassion, and care - change starts in our own hearts, and you never know how planting the incorruptible seed of God's word expressed through action can change a life and in the process, change you!

Leader Prayer: "Lord, your only discrimination is against sin, of which we are all guilty. With that truth leveling the playing field, may we give ourselves over to loving treatment of those closest to us, and follow the still, small voice of your Spirit to lead and guide us into divine wisdom, truth and peace. Amen."
