The report from my house is that the grass is now tall enough to lose the dog, lesson plans are desperately behind schedule, and oh yeah - our daughter is getting married in November!

Is it possible to be exhausted and we're only a week into the deployment? I thought I was strong and resilient - and shouldn't all that Army training about "avoiding thinking traps" and "hunting the good stuff" should be paying off right about now?

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." - Hebrews 12:1

The Apostle Paul compared life to a race, and said that followers of Jesus had to throw off the "weights" that slow them down. This could be worries, fear, perfectionism, overscheduling, or sinful habits and attitudes.

This deployment is not a sprint, it's a marathon, and as some have described, it's more like a triathlon. Don't look left or right or be distracted by what other people are doing - let them run their own race. God knows you, knows how He created you, and knows His specific plan for you. It's up to you to run the race! Read His word, pray, fellowship with other Christians, and trust God every day. He's got your back!

Be encouraged: Though it's just the start, you can do it - you can make it to the end and look back to see God's hand present on your life and your Family through it all. Run your race!

LEADER PRAYER: Without strength from you Lord, I will fail. I am weary and it seems as if we've just started this journey. Today is that day I drop these burdens that keep me from running my race. Please bolster my mind and body, and surround me with support from above. I commit my future to your care and I will cast off worry and doubt in exchange for your peace. Amen.

Blessings on your week --
